The objective of the scoreboard tool is to assess and score the level and progress of countries in energy efficiency, by sector (households, transport, industry and services). The scoring is done for a list of selected indicators representative of end-uses, transport mode or sub-sector.

The scoring methodology is based on OECD Composite Indicators methodology, which gives normalized scores across the countries within a range of 0-1.

The scores are calculated with the latest date available (2014). The trend values are calculated as the annual growth rate over the period 2000-2014.

There are two main sections for viewing results:

Ranking: Ranking of countries in terms of energy efficiency performance (total and by sector).

Positioning: Shows the performance of a country by sector in comparison with the best country, the EU average or any other country.
